Methodology

Every figure on Top 7 Markets comes from a public source. This page says which, how often it refreshes, and where our numbers can legitimately differ from someone else's.

TL;DR

All data comes from public APIs — DefiLlama, native exchange endpoints, Polymarket and CoinGecko. Live figures refresh as you browse; the static pages crawlers read are rebuilt daily. Venues are reported as they report themselves, not silently reconciled.

Sources

DefiLlama

Protocol TVL, volume, fees and revenue across perpetual DEXs.

Hyperliquid API

Open interest, funding rates and market data for Hyperliquid.

Exchange APIs

Native public endpoints of Backpack, Paradex, edgeX, Apex, Lighter, Extended, GRVT, StandX, Aster and others for per-venue metrics.

Polymarket

Prediction market volume, prices and market listings.

CoinGecko

Token prices, market capitalisation and fully diluted valuation.

How current the data is

Pages are prerendered to static HTML so they can be read without running JavaScript. That snapshot is rebuilt daily, and each data page carries the date it was generated. When you open a page in a browser, the figures then refresh from the source APIs, so what you see is current even if the snapshot behind it is not.

Known limits

  • Venues self-report volume and open interest. We do not audit their figures or filter wash trading.
  • Coverage follows the venues we track; a protocol missing from a table is not a judgement about it.
  • Funding rates are sampled at each payment interval, so intraday spikes between samples are not captured.
  • Fully diluted valuation depends on circulating and total supply as reported by the token source, which can lag unlocks.

Frequently Asked Questions

1.Where does the data come from?

Public APIs only: DefiLlama, the native APIs of each exchange (Hyperliquid, dYdX, Backpack, Paradex and others), Polymarket, and CoinGecko for token prices. Every source is listed on this page.

2.How often is it updated?

Figures refresh continuously from the source APIs while you browse. The static version of each page — what search engines and AI crawlers read — is regenerated daily, so a snapshot may be up to a day old.

3.Why do numbers differ from other trackers?

Trackers disagree on what to count: notional versus fee-generating volume, whether to include testnet or wash-traded pairs, and how to handle venues that report on different windows. We take each venue at its own reported figures and label the source rather than reconcile them silently.

4.Is any of this financial advice?

No. Top 7 Markets reports what public data sources publish. Nothing here is a recommendation to trade.
